PMN: Black Tunic

You guys already know I'm a huge PMN fan. I recently purchased this black tunic, and while I loved how Phi-Style paired it with denim shorts, it was WAY too cold for me to wear it the same way.

Since we were going out in celebration of my birthday with a couple of friends, I did FANSHY MAKE-UP. I didn't do a tutorial on it because I was experimenting & what if it turned out bad?

Dinner was in Santa Monica at Il Fornaio where they had a lobster risotto & a sampler dessert plate so I mean, you can't really beat that.

How To: Errday Make-up

I recently received a request for a tutorial on good everyday work make-up; this is how you'll probably catch me at any given day in the office. Breaking this down makes it seem a bit longer than it actually takes. On average, it's about 15 minutes from start to finish.
what you'll need:
+ face: concealer, pressed powder, bronzer, blush
+ eyes: dark brown shadow, cream base shadow, taupe shadow, light pink shadow, liquid liner, mascara, brow color
+ lips: any lipgloss (though i just slap on eucerin & head out the door)

+ conceal any flaws; for me that's scars / discolorations & my dark circles. i definitely recommend using concealer under your eyes as the florescent lighting in most offices will make you look even more tired than you are. don't use concealer all up under your eyes: just the inner corner & blend out. [using kat von d's tattoo concealer in tan & benefit's boi-ing#02]
+ using a large powder brush, apply powder evenly on your face & neck [using mac's studio fix nc35]
+ using a stiff angled brush, fill in your eyesbrows (but not too dark or chola style) [using estee lauder's two-in-one #01]
+ apply cream shadow all over lid, it's great prepping for shadows [using mac's pearl]. use your ring finger since it's the weakest & won't drag the delicate skin
+ apply dark brown shadow from your outer corners towards the middle of your eye. the color should go just above the crease (but not to your brow-bone) [using l'oreal's hip shadow duo in brazen]
+ using a wide brush, blend to soften the brown & start blending towards your brow-bone. you don't have to use any particular color to blend, but if you want, you can use a taupe color to help smooth it out. i recommend using soft back & forth motion, or small circular motions. [using laura mercier in whiskey]
+ using a light pink shimmery shadow, apply to the inner corners of your eyes. [using victoria's secret luminous shadow in too too pink]. then use your ring finger to smooth over the loose shadow.
+ re-emphasize the outer corners by lightly re-applying the dark brown
+ optional: for a more dramatic look, apply a black shadow to the outer corners (not something i do for regular day-to-day looks)
+ curl your lashes [using shu uemera's eyelash curler]
+ use liquid liner to line your upper eyelids as close to the lashline as possible & apply mascara. option: wing out the outer-ends [using maybelline's line stiletto in blackest black, nyc's liquid liner in jet black, maybelline's define-a-lash in very black]
+ line lower lashline with liquid liner - just from the outer edge to the middle & using the same dark brown shadow, gently smudge the color. i find that using a liquid liner on my lower lashline prevents smearing & applying a shadow on top of it prevents looking so harsh.
+ apply blush to the hallows of your cheeks - suck in your cheeks & apply right below your cheekbones [using mac's bronzing powder in bronze].
+ apply a contrasting blush to the apples of your cheeks - just right above where the bronzer was applied [using benefit's blush in coralista]

I have been pronouncing that wrong for the past 3 years, WHY DIDN'T ANYONE CORRECT ME?

Talk about repurposing clothes! Hey, if you know me, you know I'm on a budget & wearing things one to two times is just not an option. So everything you see here has been worn (probably more than several times), just paired in a [slightly] different way.

I think at the end of the day, if I can purchase items that I can use often but are put together in a new way that still make me feel well-dressed, I've done my job. Whether it's cuffing & belting my blazer or rolling up my jeans, the same pieces can feel like a completely different outfit.

What's in My Purse

I received a request of what's in my purse, so here's a glimpse (I also linked to the same or similar items for reference):

note: I can't seem to find my purse / wallet, pretty sure they're discontinued

On a typical day, I'm wearing this LAMB purse (that's over 3+years old) because it's perfect for work & happy hour gatherings. Inside the purse itself, it's pretty organized: wallet, cosmetics bag, camera, business card / gift card holder, gum. I shove everything in the cosmetics bag, which helps keep things clutter-free within the purse itself.

Once you get INTO the cosmetics bag, that's when it gets dicey because I consider the below my "emergency touch-up makeup kit." To be fair, I feel like I will NEED everything at one point:

+ co bigelow vitamin mentha lip quad - 4 colors + a large mirror for precision application
+ blistex medicated ointment - my lips are often chapped (and rye bread always needs chapstick)
+ mac slimshine lipstick in scant - great natural color with one swipe
+ flirt! glamourazzi in standout - okay, i may not NEED this, but i like it
+ vicotria's secret very sexy lashes - for that last minute lash touch-up
+ nyc liquid eyeliner - the tail of my eyeliner can tend to smudge / fade
+ mac blush brush 129SE - compact & fits in most make-up bags
+ mac blush in stray rose - the perfect cheek color no matter what eye make-up i'm wearing
+ cover girl trublend in 3 - i use mac in the morning ,but for touch-ups, cover girl works
+ mac concealer in nc30 - to touch up dark circles & any blemises
+ shu uemura eyelash curler - a must have for opening your eyes after a long day's work
+ visine - a trick i learned while wearing contacts: apply to tear ducts (inner / outer corners of your eyes)
+ aleve - for my constant headaches / migraines
+ l'occitane solid perfume magnolia - smells good & is compact
+ coconut lime antibacterial gel - for those germies
+ goodies hair ties & bobby pins - in case my hair becomes unruly
+ bubbliciuos gum - because it's yummy

Hard Days Night

After working all day & having a vendor dinner, the last thing I wanted to do is take pictures. But Rye Bread offered to take them for me and that meant no setting up the tripod or self-timer! So forgive me if I look exhausted, I was.

For those who requested more work-appropriate outfits (which I thought I've been doing, lol), here's what I wore to both the vendor meeting & dinner. I liked the non-matchy matchy skirt & blazer, and the delicate tank (that wasn't a camisole). Also, it was easy to take off the blazer for a "sexier" look while waiting at the bar for dinner. But not too sexy, because hello, this is for work.

We went to Katsuya in Hollywood for dinner, with paparazzi & star-sighting include Aubrey O'Day, formally of Danity Kane...before PDiddy kicked her out...because she was too slutty. She totally hammed it up for the paparazzi...probably because she's the one who tipped them off.

It's April Fool's Day...any good pranks?

My favorite prank we did was when we took a screenshot of our admin's desktop & made it his background & hid all of his desktop icons; that way, whenever he tried to click on any of his icons (programs, docs, etc.) NONE of them worked. He restarted his computer five times before we couldn't take it anymore & bubbled over with laughter.
