Why Oui Oui

I'm totally into french braiding my hair...maybe because I never knew I could do it until one day I was on a conference call & instead of picking at my split-ends, I decided to braid my hair out of my face. AND IT WORKED. It doesn't look professional (or like this for that matter), but I like that it's somewhat messy with my layers falling out in between. It's great for hiking / walking around to get my stupid grown-out bangs out of my FACE. I shall do a tutorial soon.

It was one of my good friend's birthday and I can't even remember the last time I went out. But I did buy this skirt at F21 in Columbus, OH, just in case I needed an appropriate going-out outfit. After I put it on, I spent the next 20 minutes figuring out if I should tuck in my shirt or leave it tucked out (I opted for tucking it in).

We went to Bar Copa, a place in Santa Monica, that I enjoy. I went there for my birthday & they play pretty good music...but the place is SO SMALL and it gets SO HOT. Like everyone looks like they spent 3 hours in a sauna by the time they leave...I'm talking bangs & hair sticking to your face, makeup smeared off, and random wet spots on your clothes (could be from the spilled drinks, or from your sweat...or even someone else's sweat. I KNOW.) But music is good.
I realize that all of my pictures look the same. I'm with the same group of guys and we (basically) always have the same expressions.

For those who were wondering, running has been good, but I'm really into hiking! Recently went to Runyon Canyon in Hollywood & while I didn't enjoy it as much as Mandeville in Brentwood, it was still fun to go with my friend. JUST CROWDED. And everyone goes to BE SEEN. WHY DO YOU NEED FULL MAKE-UP ON A HIKE? The views were nice, and you even got to see the Hollywood sign. But last Saturday I went to Mandeville by myself because it was closer & a little more...hiker-ish. Is that a word? Ugh, when did I become a HIKING SNOB?

Ruffles, Part Deux: Revenge of the Dogs

Moar ruffles because...I like them.
I got this shirt about 2-years ago, and I'm still figuring out how to wear it. Somehow it just doesn't look good in just jeans.

As you can see, taking pictures while the dogs are loose is nearly impossible! They are such camera hogs! And let's be real, there's only room for ONE camera hog in this houseshold.

Rrrruffles Has Ridges

Ruffles are perfect for Spring (seriously is it Spring yet?) and I just had to jump on the bandwagon. This is a good "casual Friday" or weekend-out look. But...since I work in such a casual environment, this looks applies for me EVERYDAY!

Paired with espadrilles or even embellished sandals, this look is super simple & comfy.

In other news, congrats to Ryan's basketball team, 3rd Leg, who won Sportsfest, a basketball tournament held at my old Alma Mater, Cal Poly Pomona. These guys have been playing together for the past 10+ years, so it's nice to see that these old dogs still got it.
I am such a team mom.

Party for One?

Have been feeling a little uninspired lately. Actually, I take that back - I've been inspired, but from different things...like cooking...and crafts. Not fashion and make-up. Do you guys go through swings like that? I obsess over something for like 2 weeks, then get over it, find something else to obsess about for another 2 weeks, then I'm over it.

Well at least I decided to dress somewhat cool today. Haha. For the past week, it's been about jeans and a polo. Definitely not blog-worthy.

ruffle shirt: ross, skirt & belt: style xpress, heels: can't remember!
my toes = vienna sausages.
Feels like I'm a maitre d' at a fancy restaurant, but hey, it works! I'll start posting up pictures of my crafts and any nommy foods that I cook up. I'm having a housewarming party with my two roommies (don't mind the fact that I've been living there since October 2008) - we got a new roommate, we made over the apartment, and it's time to finally have people over. Pictures of that this weekend.

Here's one of the two party favors I made:
All that this required was: jars, sand, sea shells, and tea lights - all purchased from Michael's. A great way to set the ambiance and add a little flair to our dimly-lit apartment. Since I had some leftover shells and candles, I trimmed some of the tealights down to fit inside the shells and repurposed the jar lids as a base if the wax spills over.

What are your latest obsessions?

P.S. I apologize that I've been blog-absent as of late (both in visiting my fellow bloggers and in updating). I hope to get back on track ASAP. Thanks for your patience. <3.
