Won't You Be My Neighbor?

I feel like I look like an old man today. If only I was wearing khakis and loafers, it would complete this outfit - unfortunately, I have neither. (adds to my wish list) Actually, it would probably look better if I had just went all out and dressed like an old man (complete with hair in my ears), instead of doing it only half-way.
banana republic cardigan, h&m polo, random f21 jeans

This gloomy weather is making my head hurt, what do I wear? It's not warm enough for summer clothes, it's not winter so I would look weird bundled up. Being a girl is hard. Haha.

To counter my semi old-man outfit, I decided to go very bright and very girly with my make-up: teals & blues brighten up my face, and subsequently, day.
This look actually took me longer than my normal 5 steps, but was still fun to try out. I used a light seafoam green in the inner corners of my eyes, then shaded out to a royal blue, and the outer corners have a rich, deep brown and some black. I find that with my shaped eyes, I can pretty much mess around with any colors in the center & inner corners, but in order for my eyes to look bigger, a darker brown / black on the outer corners is a must.

What are your staples in your make-up routines?
Day 2 hair = updos, so today I mixed it up: kept my bang down, braided the center portion of my hair, teased the crown, and wrapped it all up in a pony. I'm not sure if I like this look, but at least it's up and somewhat out of my face! The braid kinda looks like a headband, so that's cool - I'm not a fan of those fake hair headbands you can buy at a local store or mall...they kind of freak me out. Haha.

  1. wth, didn't you used to call me Old Man Christine? Ha! Now *you're* the old man!

I'm paying more attention to how you do your makeup, now that I'm starting to wear it. My goodness, you should see how horribly I apply it:

"Oh, this looks good. *brushes it on* Hmm, ok, put this on top...LIgHTLY *brushes it on* Mm...maybe this too *brushes it on* Dah! Too much! *wipes and blends out with finger until there's barely a speckle of color* Ok done!"

  2. Gah, I wish I was even a portion as talented as you with hair/makeup, I can't do anything with my hair apart from straighten it and make it semi-wavy. Cute look, and I love the colour combination on your eyes too!

I think a newsboy cap would definitely add to the 'old-man' look too :D

  3. I love the hair braids. Ever since I saw your entry on how you rock the side bun w/ braids I've been braiding and pulling it back in a ponytail. =) You look great!

  5. why do you feel like an old man, Steve? hahahah! jk jk... wow.. how's it working with all guys? sometimes i think that'd be a better environment...too much drama in a female dominant environment... like my office for example... all female except for 2 guys. haha! and yes you should have gone all or nothing with the old man look!!!!

  11. Hahah you're so funny, you don't look like an old man at all, not with sexy hair like that! The teals look great, I can't tell at all actually that you're wearing brown.

  15. so so cute! i think its a great everyday look. your hair and make up give it that not old lady pop!

its definitely infuriating when you walk into a store and you're "wealth" and "spending power" is based solely on your appearance. Its just the way it is i suppose. And yes they're so busy kissing butt to those that are faking the funk with the over done make up, hair, clothes... Its pretty comical.

what ever did happen to good o customer service! xoxo

  16. I should try smokey eyes more often. I've done it a few times but it takes me forever to take the make up off. What type of eye make up remover do you use? Currently I'm using the sephora brand. haha. Maybe there's something else out there that wouldn't strip away moisture around my eyes.

I checked out a few places in West LA, but it's way too far from work..haha. I think I spoiled myself by living 5 mins away now.
