How To: The Herrr Edition

Per your request: a tutorial for my hair. This version is the more "everyday" hair style I wear. I'll do another with the hot curlers & another with tighter curls soon. Takes me about 10 - 15 minutes total.

what you'll need:
+ hair clip (like a claw clip)
+ 1" curling iron (i'm using hot tools ceramic curling iron)
+ hair spray

+ this is my hair when i wake up. STRAIGHT. i shower at night & blow-dry my hair until it's damp, apply Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Smoothoing Serum to the ends & sleep

+ pre-heat curling iron for about 5-10 minutes (i have my setting on nearly the maximum)
+ take 2/3 of your hair & clip it up
+ split hair down the middle
+ taking about 2" of hair (or in my case, dividing each half into another half)
+ curl hair about half-way up your hair (not all the way up to your scalp)
+ hold for about 3 - 5 seconds for a loose curl, longer for a tighter curl
+ repeat on other side

+ take 1/3 of your hair & clip it up
+ repeat curling process
+ make sure to grab any loosey goosey strands & curl them as well

+ let the rest of your hair down
+ guess what? repeat process!
+ grab your bangs & slightly curl them in - this should only be for a second or two
+ run your fingers through your hair making sure you don't have any straight strands
+ lightly hair spray

questions about this or any other post?

  1. Love this post!!! I was thinking about getting a body wave, but that seemed too intense for me! This is the best idea!

also, your bathroom looks really clean/well lit. also, is that a cut up wifebeater? because that would be awesome.

  3. it looks like you're going to show me how to cook something. Can you make me some cookies?

I can't wait for you to do MY hair!

  4. Thanks for the tutorial! You make it look so easy :(

    You look beautiful as always!!

  5. I'm so glad you're blogging again! You have great hair. I actually really like the before picture. I can't believe your hair is that straight in the morning. When I go to sleep with damp hair, it's in a million direction in the morning. Is that serum the secret?! I'm also Vietnamese and have similar hair in texture and length.

  6. my fav curling iron, works so well

  7. I love your hair worn straight! I'm trying to grow out my hair right now (it's in a bob with straight bangs) but it's taking forever, ugh.

  8. on nights i take night-showers (sounds weird), i totally put a serum (CHI Silk Infusion) on just the ends of my hair too! WE ARE SO THE SAME. =)
